Great work and for once it's not a later P-51

Only Allison engined Mustangs had the top mounted air intake. They also had four 50 caliber machine guns. The first British Mustangs had four 20mm. cannons.

Yeah, it's a P-51B.  It only has 4 50 calibers & the nose radiator.

Looks like a P-51A to me.  The cowling is different between the two models, with the scoop thing on the top being on the P-51A and the A-36 Apache (and it's not an Apache because no slat dive brakes or chin-mounted guns; the Apache was kind of a weird step in the Mustang's evolution)

So survey says... this is a P-51A then?  At least we all can agree it't not an A-36 Apache.  No visible dive brakes or chin-mounted 20mm cannons.

It is an A, trust me. Demon Dog doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

But yes you are correct, it's not an A-36.
